In the net
Well I'm happy to report that me and John indeed out out to the lake and I'm happier to report that we both got into a fish!.
Not huge monsters, both fish where under 12lb, But as the water temp has been so low it was lucky (or maybe skill) that we got any fish.
I know one thing, its sure nice to get your first fish under your belt 11lb.2oz
Best made plans of mice and men
Im still hoping to get out fishing today, But the wife was up most of last night with a cough and cold and as I type this she is taking a nap leaving me to look after my 2 yearold (my son is already at school)
I did talk to a friend of mine who is dead keen on getting out fishing with me too, As much as I love fishing alone its still a nice change to have someone to take photos of my prizes and to do some filming if im lucky to hook int o some fish today.
So I await to the wife to wake and for the call from John to let me know if he has to work or not.

Bait Bait Everywhere
Seems to be somewhat of a strange year as far as bait goes, I sold some old alarms to a bait maker at the start of this year and done a deal for some boilies, Now I have to say that I don't fish boilies much, I just never seem to catch on them on the waters that I fish.
But new waters for me this year and I know some of them are boilie waters, So thought it would be well worth to have some on hand, So i was happy to see 8lbs of 20mm turn up last week, After that deal I had a call about testing some new boilies that are going to get in to the USA sometime over the next few weeks, It seems ill be getting 25lb of them to test!
After this I was get ask to test some tiger nuts, Now tiger nuts are to my mind the best carp bait ever, weeding out the small ones and I'm looking forward to testing the new tigers and ill update this blog about my finding on them.

New rods
The Chub Outkast was the first in a line of a new generation of Chub carp rods. These are built using all the latest in-house technology and also utilise the most up-to-date carbon processes never available before in rods of this price range. Designed to cover all aspects of carp fishing, the rods are available in four test curves from 2.5lb to 3.5lb. They feature lovely slim, lightweight yet extremely powerful performance driven blanks, which give a very minimal but modern look. The Outkast features five double legged SIC guides and tip ring, screw lock reel seat and abbreviated handle with a Japanese shrink-wrap butt grip, plus carbon line clip. During testing the Outkast exceeded all expectations revealing a smooth progressive action but with plenty of power for long casting, achieving some phenomenal distances yet still retaining a superb playing action capable of handling big fish. So confident are we on the performance of these rods that they come with a Worldwide Extended Warranty, also a first for rods in this price range.
